UAE’s Archaeological Finds Reveal 60,000 Years of Human History

New archaeological discoveries across the United Arab Emirates are offering fresh insights into human settlement, ancient communities and economic activity spanning thousands of years.

Research at Jebel Al Buhais in Sharjah has uncovered evidence of repeated human occupation dating from around 60,000 to 16,000 years ago, highlighting the area’s long history of human presence.

In Al Ain, archaeologists have discovered a remarkably preserved Bronze Age communal tomb believed to date between approximately 2,000 and 1,300 BCE. The site contained pottery, weapons and personal ornaments, providing researchers with valuable evidence about burial traditions, daily life and cultural practices.

Scientists are also studying the human remains to investigate ancient diets, migration patterns and connections between different communities.

The discoveries are expanding understanding of the UAE’s deep archaeological heritage and the role of the region in ancient human movement and trade.

Researchers believe continued study of these sites could reveal further information about how communities adapted to their surroundings, interacted with neighbouring populations and developed economic networks, adding important chapters to the broader history of the Arabian Peninsula.
