Residents and property owners in Abu Dhabi could face fines of up to Dh2,000 for storing items on balconies or rooftops in a way that affects a building’s appearance or creates potential health and safety concerns.
Under regulations issued by the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport, a first violation can result in a Dh500 fine.
A second offence may lead to a Dh1,000 penalty, while a third or repeated violation could result in a fine of Dh2,000.
The regulations cover a range of items that may be improperly stored in outdoor areas, including clutter, unused furniture, construction materials and other objects placed on balconies, rooftops or similar spaces.
Authorities are expected to conduct inspections to ensure compliance with the regulations. The measures are aimed at maintaining cleaner and safer residential buildings while preventing outdoor spaces from becoming cluttered or posing risks to residents and the surrounding community.
Residents are therefore being encouraged to keep balconies and rooftops properly organised and avoid using these spaces for the long-term storage of unnecessary items.
The enforcement forms part of wider efforts to maintain Abu Dhabi’s standards for building appearance, cleanliness, safety and overall property maintenance.
