Expo 2023 Doha Main Building Achieves Guinness World Records for Largest Green Roof

Excitement is building up for Expo 2023 Doha, and here is some fantastic news to add to the buzz, the Main Building, created by the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), has just made its way into the Guinness World Records! What’s the record, you ask? It is for having the “Largest Green Roof” globally, covering an area of 4,031 square meters.

This achievement marks the sixth Guinness World Records title for Ashghal, adding to their existing list of accomplishments. Among their past achievements are the construction of the world’s largest electric bus depot, a super long air-conditioned outdoor path in Umm Al Seneem park, the lengthiest continuous cycling path (an Olympic cycling track), a record-setting piece of asphalt laid continuously along Al Khor road, and the unique event of planting trees involving the most nationalities.

The Secretary General of the International Horticultural Expo 2023, Mohammed Al Khouri, expressed immense joy at this accomplishment. He mentioned how this significant achievement comes right before the commencement of the International Horticultural Expo 2023, adding even more excitement to this global event.

Eng. Jaralla Mohammed Al Marri, the Buildings Projects Department Manager, emphasized Ashghal’s continuous efforts to reach global standards through outstanding projects. He acknowledged the Guinness World Records title for the Expo 2023 Main Building as a great acknowledgment of Ashghal’s projects and their internationally recognized accomplishments.

The Expo 2023 Doha Main Building is a key highlight, showcasing high quality horticultural standards in a hot climate area. It is a splendid example of turning a desert climate into a green paradise, representing the beauty of Qatar. The building offers an interactive experience, bringing together nature and modern urban construction with a touch of Qatari essence. The roof, a proud holder of the Guinness World Records title, is adorned with Pennisetum, Dahlia, and lush green grass.

With the main building, service buildings, and exhibition gardens ready to welcome participants and visitors, Expo 2023 Doha promises to be one of the major horticultural exhibitions in the Middle East. It is a proof to human ingenuity and the beauty of nature, coming together to create something truly extraordinary.
