Abu Dhabi Issues First Licence Plate for Self-Driving Delivery Vehicle

Abu Dhabi has officially issued its first licence plate for a self-driving delivery vehicle, marking an important step in the emirate’s journey toward smart and sustainable mobility. The new pilot project is being tested in Masdar City in partnership with K2 and EMX, and it shows how technology is reshaping the way goods can be transported. These vehicles, developed by K2’s Autogo, are designed to travel on city roads and complete deliveries without the need for a driver, offering a safer, smarter, and cleaner way to move items around.

The initiative is being led by the Integrated Transport Centre and is part of Abu Dhabi’s larger vision to make 25% of all trips rely on smart transport by the year 2040. By introducing autonomous delivery vehicles, the city aims to reduce traffic congestion, lower harmful emissions, and create a modern transport system that matches global innovation standards. While the project is currently in its testing phase within Masdar City, officials expect a commercial launch and wider expansion across Abu Dhabi in the near future. This marks a major milestone in how the emirate plans to build a sustainable and forward-thinking transport network for the years ahead.
