Abu Dhabi has unveiled plans for Dar al Funoon (House of the Arts), an ambitious new performing arts destination that is expected to open its doors in 2030. The project is set to become one of the region’s most significant cultural landmarks, further reinforcing the emirate’s commitment to expanding its arts and creative sectors.
Designed by the late world-renowned architect Frank Gehry, the venue will feature more than 6,000 seats spread across a variety of performance spaces, including a grand theatre, an open-air amphitheatre, a dedicated jazz venue, and a flexible multipurpose hall capable of hosting concerts, theatrical productions, exhibitions, and other cultural events.
Situated near the Saadiyat Cultural District, Dar al Funoon is envisioned as a vibrant hub for artists, performers, and audiences from around the world. The development is expected to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading global destination for arts and culture while boosting tourism, supporting creative industries, encouraging educational initiatives, and fostering international artistic collaboration for years to come.
