Big Relief! Sharjah Raises Social Assistance toDh 20,000

Sharjah Ruler Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi has announced an increase in the minimum monthly living standard for families receiving social assistance, raising it to Dh20,000 effective September 1, 2026.

The decision is aimed at strengthening financial stability and ensuring greater support for families across the emirate.

The new measure is expected to benefit 6,652 families, with the Sharjah government allocating approximately Dh195.13 million annually to support the initiative. The increased assistance is intended to help beneficiaries meet rising living costs and maintain a better standard of living.

The broader directives also extend the Dh20,000 minimum living standard to government retirees and employees.

Overall, the measures are expected to support more than 31,900 beneficiaries and families, reflecting Sharjah’s continued focus on social welfare, financial security, and improving quality of life for its citizens.
