Dubai private schools have been directed by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) to keep their school timings short as the holy month of Ramadan approaches. The KHDA’s guidelines state that school timings should not exceed five hours of instruction time, with schools finishing by 12 pm on Fridays. The aim is to create optimal educational settings for private school students throughout the month of Ramadan, prioritizing the well-being of the students and the instructors as well.
The KHDA also emphasized the significance of the Holy Month to all enrolled students, with a specific focus on instilling spiritual values associated with Ramadan. Headteachers are striving to minimize assessments during this period so that pupils can dedicate ample time to family and prayer.
Most international curricula institutions will have almost 10 days of spring break coinciding with Ramadan, while Indian curriculum schools will have a brief vacation before the commencement of the new academic year. Dubai’s Amity School fosters religious and cultural understanding by providing diverse spiritual learning opportunities within their inspiring learning environments during the sacred month of Ramadan.
Amity School Dubai Principal, Sangita Chima, said,
‘This year, the academic calendar coincides well with Ramadan, allowing students to better manage their spiritual and cultural commitments. The end-of-session break offers them additional time for reflection and relaxation. As a result, our students return to their studies with renewed energy and mindfulness as they move up to the next grade.‘
