Dubai Plans 42 km Gold Metro Line to Connect 15 Key Areas with 18 Stations by 2032

Dubai is set to significantly expand its public transport network with the planned 42-kilometre Gold Metro Line, a major AED 34 billion infrastructure project designed to improve connectivity across the emirate. The line will link 15 strategic areas through 18 stations, with completion targeted for September 9, 2032.

The ambitious project is expected to serve more than 1.5 million people by 2040 and support connectivity to over 55 major developments.

It will also integrate with Dubai’s existing Red and Green Metro Lines, as well as Etihad Rail, creating a more connected multimodal transport network for residents, commuters and visitors.

The Gold Line is projected to ease pressure on the existing Red Line, reducing congestion on affected sections by around 23%. It could also help eliminate more than 40 million car journeys each year, encouraging greater use of public transportation across the city.

Beyond improving mobility, the project is expected to reduce travel times, fuel consumption and carbon emissions while strengthening access to key residential, commercial and economic hubs.

With its focus on sustainable transportation and long-term urban development, the Gold Metro Line is set to play an important role in supporting Dubai’s continued economic growth and population expansion through 2040 and beyond.
