    In a pioneering move towards inclusivity, Dubai Police has been awarded the Autism-Friendly Certificate (AFC) by the Dubai Autism Centre. This recognition marks a significant step in creating a safe and inclusive environment for individuals with autism. Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Dubai Police Commander-in-Chief, received the certificate, acknowledging the force’s commitment to meeting specific criteria related to personnel, facilities, and services tailored to the needs of people with autism.

    Dedication to Inclusivity

    Lt. Gen. Al Marri attributes this achievement to the force’s unwavering dedication to inclusivity. He notes that this commitment aligns with the objectives of sustainable development, the national policy for empowering people with determination, Dubai’s strategy of “My Community, A City for Everyone,” and the Dubai Police strategy aimed at enhancing the quality of life and well-being of this segment of society.

    The award stands as an evidence to the force’s commitment to consistently improve and adopt the best global practices, experiences, and advanced technologies. Lt. Gen. Al Marri emphasizes that this commitment aims to achieve pioneering leadership and comprehensive integration for individuals with determination, aligning with the remarkable advancements witnessed throughout the country in various sectors.

    Creating Accessible Services

    Mohammed Al Emadi, Director-General of the Dubai Autism Centre, expresses gratitude to Dubai Police for ensuring accessible services for individuals with autism at police stations. Commending their dedication to equality, Al Barsha and Al Muraqqabat police stations received the Autism-Friendly Certificate for creating a safe environment.

    Sensory Rooms in Police Stations

    Major Abdullah Hamad Al Shamsi, Chairman of Dubai Police’s People of Determination Empowerment Council, underscores the establishment of sensory rooms in police stations as a clear demonstration of the council’s dedication to creating inclusive facilities. Sensory rooms are specially designed to help individuals develop and engage their senses.

    These sensory rooms play a vital role in fostering social interaction, enhancing communication skills, and providing a safe space. Major Al Shamsi emphasizes the importance of offering a protective and stimulating environment, showcasing a pioneering initiative that supports individuals with autism.

    Commitment to Partnerships

    Major Al Shamsi reaffirms the Council’s commitment to fostering strong partnerships with relevant entities supporting individuals with determination.     Dubai Police has already equipped Al Muraqqabat and Al Barsha police stations with sensory rooms, tailored to the specific requirements and needs of individuals with autism.     The certificate presentation ceremony was attended by key figures, including Brigadier Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al Mualla, Director of the General Department of Excellence and Pioneering at Dubai Police, and Captain Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al Mazrouei, Deputy Chairman of the People of Determination Empowerment Council at Dubai Police, along with council members, and representatives from the Dubai Autism Centre. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in Dubai’s journey towards becoming a truly inclusive city for everyone.
