Dubai is set to introduce new truck movement restrictions from October 1, 2026, as part of measures aimed at reducing traffic congestion, improving road flow and strengthening road safety across the emirate.
Under the updated regulations, restrictions will differ depending on the road and traffic conditions. Some major routes will have truck movement prohibited around the clock, while other roads will restrict heavy vehicles between 6am and 10pm or during designated peak traffic periods.
Key roads affected by the new measures include Sheikh Zayed Road, Beirut Street, Airport Road, Oman Street and Damascus Street.
Emirates Road will remain exempt from the restrictions, allowing trucks to continue using the route without being subject to the new movement controls.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is also expanding dedicated facilities for heavy vehicles to help operators manage the new restrictions.
A total of 1,007 truck parking spaces are now available across seven designated locations, providing additional areas for drivers to park and rest during restricted periods.
Companies transporting essential goods or requiring truck movements during restricted hours will also be able to apply for special permits.
The measures are intended to balance the movement of commercial vehicles with Dubai’s wider efforts to manage congestion, maintain smoother traffic conditions and improve road safety.
