Emirates Sets New Rules for Power Banks Onboard Flights from October 1

Starting from October 1, 2025, Emirates Airlines will introduce new safety rules for carrying power banks on flights. These changes are being made to reduce the risk of fire caused by lithium batteries, which have become a growing concern in the aviation industry.

Under the new policy, each passenger will be allowed to bring only one power bank with a capacity of less than 100 watt-hours (Wh). However, during the flight, passengers will not be allowed to use the power bank to charge their devices or recharge the power bank itself. It must remain switched off at all times.

For safety reasons, power banks must be stored in a place that is easily accessible, such as the seat pocket or under the seat in front. Passengers are not allowed to place them in overhead compartments or pack them in checked-in luggage.

According to Emirates, this decision was made after a detailed safety review. By keeping power banks close by, cabin crew can quickly respond in case of an emergency, helping to keep everyone on board safe.
