Saudi Arabia is accelerating the digital transformation of Makkah’s Grand Mosque, introducing smart technologies designed to improve operational efficiency, streamline services and enhance the experience of pilgrims.
One of the key developments is a smart mobility platform that reportedly helped reduce waiting times during the latest Hajj season from around two hours to approximately nine minutes.
The system is part of a wider effort to make movement around the holy site more organized and efficient during periods of exceptionally high visitor numbers.
Digital solutions are also being used to support iftar arrangements, administrative procedures and field operations, helping authorities coordinate essential services more effectively.
Advanced mapping technologies, automation and data-driven systems are contributing to the modernization of day-to-day operations.
The transformation involves collaboration among 18 government entities, highlighting the scale of coordination required to manage services at one of the world’s most visited religious sites.
These initiatives form part of Saudi Arabia’s broader Vision 2030 goals, with the Grand Mosque moving toward an ambitious future centered on smart technology, efficient services and an improved experience for millions of pilgrims and visitors.
