Saudi Arabia to Complete Railway that Connects with Turkey Via Syria & Jordan by End of Year

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, Saleh al-Jasser, has revealed that joint feasibility and technical studies for a proposed railway corridor linking Saudi Arabia with Turkey—passing through Jordan and Syria—are nearing completion. He indicated that these studies are expected to be finalized before the end of the year, marking an important step forward for the ambitious regional infrastructure project.

According to al-Jasser, the planned railway connection is designed to significantly enhance the flow of goods across borders, making trade faster, more efficient, and cost-effective. By creating a continuous land transport route, the project is also expected to strengthen economic cooperation and deepen regional integration among the participating countries.

The initiative builds upon Saudi Arabia’s current railway network, which already extends close to the Jordanian border. Expanding this network further north would not only improve logistical connectivity but also contribute to the development of a more sustainable and resilient supply chain system across the region. In the long term, the railway link is expected to support economic growth, facilitate cross-border commerce, and reinforce the region’s position as a key hub for international trade routes.
