Saudi Arabia Unveils AlUla Manara, New Astronomy Destination at the World’sThird-Largest Dark Sky Park

Saudi Arabia has unveiled the design of AlUla Manara, an ambitious new landmark that will celebrate astronomy, scientific exploration, and astrotourism while showcasing the Kingdom’s commitment to innovation and sustainable development.

Situated within AlUla’s internationally recognized Dark Sky Park, one of the largest protected dark-sky reserves in the world, the destination will allow visitors to experience some of the clearest and most spectacular night skies on the planet.

Inspired by the elegant spirals of galaxies and the rings of distant planets, AlUla Manara has been designed to blend modern architecture with the surrounding natural landscape.

The attraction will feature immersive exhibitions, a state-of-the-art planetarium, interactive science displays, research and educational facilities, and a rooftop observation deck equipped for stargazing.

Visitors of all ages will be able to explore the wonders of the universe through hands-on learning experiences, guided observation sessions, and educational programmes focused on astronomy and space science.

The project also aims to preserve and celebrate AlUla’s rich celestial heritage, where generations have relied on the stars for navigation, storytelling, and cultural traditions. By combining history, science, and technology, AlUla Manara is expected to become a leading destination for researchers, students, and tourists interested in astronomy and environmental conservation.

Supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, the development will promote sustainable tourism, scientific research, environmental protection, and knowledge-based innovation. Once completed, AlUla Manara is expected to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s position as a global hub for astrotourism while inspiring greater public interest in space exploration, astronomy, and the preservation of the world’s natural night skies.
