Sharjah’s Ruler, Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, has granted clemency to 484 inmates this Ramadan as part of a pardon initiative. The prisoners were released after meeting certain conditions, including good conduct and behavior. The move is expected to bring happiness to the inmates’ families during the holy month and provide the convicts with an opportunity to lead good, productive lives.
Maj-Gen Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, expressed gratitude to Sheikh Dr Sultan for the gesture, which serves as a reminder of the UAE’s commitment to human rights and justice.
This is the third such pardon announced this Ramadan, with Ajman also ordering the release of 314 inmates earlier in the day, and the UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed, pardoning 735 prisoners. The pardons are part of the country’s efforts to promote forgiveness and compassion during the holy month, and to help offenders reintegrate into society. This act of compassion is meant to inspire hope and bring positivity into the lives of the inmates and their loved ones.
