UAE Gives Space Companies 90 Days to Obtain Mandatory Licences

The UAE has announced a 90-day grace period for companies, organisations, and individuals involved in space-related activities to obtain the licences and permits required under the country’s regulatory framework.

The grace period will begin on July 6 and continue until October 2026, giving all relevant stakeholders sufficient time to comply with the new legal requirements.

The initiative is designed to strengthen the UAE’s rapidly expanding space sector by promoting greater regulatory compliance, improving oversight, and ensuring that all space-related activities are conducted in accordance with national laws and international standards.

Officials say the move will also help create a more transparent and well-regulated environment that supports innovation, investment, and the sustainable growth of the country’s space industry.

The licensing campaign forms part of the UAE’s broader National Space Strategy 2031, which aims to position the country as a global leader in space science, technology, research, and commercial space activities.

By establishing a clear legal framework, the government hopes to encourage responsible development while attracting local and international companies to invest in the sector.

Authorities have urged all entities engaged in space-related operations to complete the registration process and obtain the necessary approvals before the grace period ends.

They warned that organisations or individuals who fail to secure the required licences by the deadline could face legal action, penalties, and other enforcement measures under the applicable regulations.
