The most frequently recorded violation involved unjustified increases in prices of essential goods. Authorities issued 449 warnings to businesses found breaching pricing regulations and imposed fines totaling Dh176,000 as part of efforts to protect consumers and maintain fair market practices.
Minister Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri emphasized that the government continues to closely monitor daily stock levels at suppliers, wholesalers, and retail outlets across the country. This monitoring system helps ensure that essential food items remain readily available in the market and prevents artificial shortages, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan when demand for food products typically rises.
He further explained that the Ministry has implemented an advanced electronic price monitoring system that covers 627 major retail outlets nationwide. The system allows authorities to track prices in real time, quickly identify unusual price fluctuations, and take prompt action when necessary.
Through these measures, the government aims to maintain price stability, ensure fair competition among retailers, and protect consumers from exploitative practices while guaranteeing that essential commodities remain accessible to the public throughout the Ramadan season.
