Residents in the UAE will soon be able to make payments just by placing their palm on a sensor, moving away from using traditional payment methods like credit cards and digital apps.
This new technology, called ‘palm ID,’ is being developed by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) in partnership with the Central Bank of the UAE.
Unlike facial recognition, palm scanning is seen as less intrusive and is designed to offer faster and more convenient payment services. It will be linked to both public and private sector services, allowing users to complete transactions more easily.
This innovative system is expected to provide a seamless experience for residents, making payments quicker and more efficient without the need for cards or mobile apps. By simply scanning their palm, users can securely authorize transactions, providing a new level of convenience in their daily lives.
As the UAE continues to embrace advanced technologies, palm ID is set to become a key feature in the country’s payment landscape, offering a modern alternative to traditional methods.
