    UAE’s First Integrated Battery Recycling Plant Unveiled at Dubai Industrial City

    Dubatt Battery Recycling has unveiled the UAE’s first fully integrated battery recycling plant at Dubai Industrial City, signaling the country’s commitment to a circular economy that furthers its sustainability agenda. The plant aligns with the UAE’s Industrial Decarbonization Roadmap, the UAE Circular Economy Policy 2031, and Dubai Integrated Waste Management Strategy 2041.

    With advanced technologies, Dubatt’s plant will safely extract hazardous waste from used lead-acid batteries, recycling up to 80% of battery waste produced in the UAE to manufacture lead ingots. These ingots will be used to produce new batteries, creating a circular economy that supports the UAE’s sustainability goals. Battery products manufactured at the end of the production cycle will be sold in the UAE and exported across the GCC, Europe, and the Far East.

    This plant initiative supports the Make it in the Emirates initiative to strengthen the supply chain for locally manufactured products. Dubatt’s plant furthers the UAE’s efforts to achieve the goals of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology’s Operation 300bn program. Dubatt’s commitment to localizing the recycling of used battery waste will ensure the safer treatment of waste materials, protecting the environment and public health.

    Dubatt’s plant at Dubai Industrial City is an evidence to investor confidence in the UAE’s future-proof and holistic roadmaps, such as Operation 300bn and Dubai Economic Agenda ‘D33,’ which promote the sustainable expansion of the manufacturing sector in the UAE.

    Additionally, the plant’s expansion, which will raise Dubatt’s turnover to AED AED 200 million, will drive significant growth and development of the national industrial sector. Dubatt’s plant is a vital step towards a regenerative approach to resource management that moves away from a ‘take, make, use, dispose’ cycle and towards consumption and production that operate sustainably within environmental limits.
