The UAE’s tourism sector achieved remarkable growth in 2024, contributing Dhs236 billion to the economy, making up 12% of the country’s GDP. This success is largely due to the “UAE Tourism Strategy 2031,” which aims to boost the nation’s tourism industry.
The UAE ranked 18th globally in the Travel & Tourism Development Index and experienced a surge in air travel, with 150 million passengers expected by the end of the year. Hotels also saw significant success, earning Dhs33.5 billion in revenue with an impressive 77.8% occupancy rate.
Key initiatives, such as the National Tourism Charter and the “World’s Coolest Winter” campaign, have highlighted sustainability, cultural promotion, and efforts to increase Emiratisation in the tourism sector. These programs aim to make the UAE a more attractive destination while preserving its cultural heritage and natural resources.
Abu Dhabi, in particular, saw a 26% rise in international visitors, further strengthening the UAE’s reputation as a leading global tourist destination. With its focus on innovative strategies and record-breaking achievements, the UAE continues to position itself as a hub for world-class tourism.
The country’s dedication to sustainability, cultural promotion, and improving tourist experiences has played a vital role in its success. As 2024 comes to an end, the UAE’s tourism sector remains a key driver of economic growth and an example of excellence in the global travel industry.
