Flying Taxi Hub at Dubai Airport to Handle 170,000 Passengers Annually

Dubai is getting closer to starting flying taxi services, with construction already underway on its very first vertiport near Dubai International Airport.

This new facility, which will be called the Dubai International Vertiport (DXV), is designed to handle up to 170,000 passengers every year. It will also be able to manage about 10 landings every hour, making it a key hub for this new way of traveling.

In the first stage of the project, flying taxis will connect four main locations in the city: Dubai International Airport, Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah, and Downtown Dubai. The very first route to open will link the airport with Dubai Marina. This service is expected to begin in early 2026. What makes it exciting is the huge time savings—this trip currently takes about 45 minutes by car, but with the flying taxi it will take only around 12 minutes.

The launch is being led by two American companies, Joby Aviation and Archer Aviation, and the entire project is being closely supported and regulated by the UAE’s aviation authority to make sure everything runs safely and smoothly.

Although it still feels futuristic, the introduction of flying taxis in Dubai is now becoming a reality. The city is aiming to transform the way people move around, reduce travel time, and set an example for modern, smart, and sustainable transportation.
