The UAE’s push for clean energy is gaining momentum, with Mohamed Ibrahim Al Hammadi, the CEO of Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, set to become the Chair Elect of the Board of Directors of the World Nuclear Association (WNA) in 2024.This is an important milestone for the UAE’s nuclear energy program, as the WNA is responsible for supporting the development of nuclear energy programs globally, with its members accounting for 70% of the world’s nuclear energy generation. ENEC is responsible for the construction and operation of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in Abu Dhabi. With four reactors and a total capacity of 5,600 megawatts, the plant will provide around 25% of the UAE’s peak electricity demand, with the third unit already operating commercially.
