Indian Teenager Dances For 127 Hours to Break World Record

Srushti Sudhir Jagtap, a 16 year old girl from Latur, Maharashtra, has made headlines by breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest dance marathon. Her remarkable feat involved dancing continuously for 127 hours, surpassing the previous record of 126 hours set in 2018.

The marathon dance took place in the auditorium of Srushti’s college, with a supportive crowd in attendance. Despite moments of fatigue, Srushti’s parents remained by her side, ensuring her freshness by spraying water on her face. GWR Official Adjudicator Swapnil Dangarikar described the performance as remarkable.

Srushti’s dance marathon began on the morning of May 29 and continued until the afternoon of June 3. Following this incredible accomplishment, she took a day to rest and recover. To achieve this record, the guidelines stipulated that a recognized dance style must be performed continuously, with the participant’s feet moving to the music at all times. Srushti showcased her talent in Kathak, one of the prominent forms of Indian classical dance.

What makes Srushti’s achievement even more impressive is the extensive preparation she undertook for this record attempt. Over a period of 15 months, she received training from her grandfather, Baban Mane, who taught her Yoga Nidra, a form of guided meditation often referred to as yogic sleep.
