The Emirate of Sharjah has introduced a new logistics facilitation initiative aimed at supporting regional trade and easing transportation costs for cargo operators. Under the new measure, cargo trucks arriving from Oman will be exempt from paying toll gate fees while travelling through designated routes within the emirate.
According to officials, the exemption applies specifically to trucks entering through the Khatmat Malaha and Al Madam border crossings, which have been designated as part of an approved logistics corridor connecting key trade and industrial areas. The initiative is intended to streamline the movement of goods between the UAE and Oman while improving the efficiency of commercial transport operations.
Authorities stated that the decision will help reduce operational expenses for logistics companies and transport businesses, while also cutting travel delays and improving the speed of cargo deliveries. The new corridor is expected to play an important role in enhancing supply chain performance and ensuring smoother connectivity between ports, free zones, warehouses, and industrial hubs across the region.
Officials added that the initiative reflects Sharjah’s broader strategy to strengthen its position as a major logistics and trade centre in the UAE. By improving transport infrastructure and facilitating cross-border cargo movement, the emirate aims to attract more commercial activity, support economic growth, and encourage stronger regional cooperation.
The project is also seen as part of wider national efforts to modernize logistics networks, improve trade competitiveness, and create a more efficient environment for businesses operating across the Gulf region.
