The United Arab Emirates has entered the peak phase of summer as intense heat continues to grip the region, with temperatures already soaring to 49.4°C in Sweihan and forecasts indicating that inland areas could cross the 50°C mark in the coming weeks.
The country is currently witnessing the longest days of the year around the summer solstice, with daylight stretching up to 13 hours and 50 minutes. This extended exposure to sunlight is contributing to rising ground temperatures and intensifying heat across both urban and desert regions.
Weather experts predict average summer temperatures will remain between 41°C and 43°C, though sudden spikes above seasonal norms are expected as heatwaves become more frequent. Hot, dry winds and dusty conditions are also likely to persist, reducing air quality and making outdoor activities increasingly challenging.
As the season progresses, humidity levels are expected to rise significantly, particularly in coastal cities such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The combination of extreme heat and humidity is likely to increase discomfort levels, while also contributing to cloud formation and occasional weather fluctuations in some parts of the country.
Authorities continue to advise residents to stay hydrated, limit direct sun exposure during peak afternoon hours, and take precautions as the harsh Gulf summer reaches its most intense stage.
