The Abu Dhabi Labour Court of First Instance has ordered a healthcare facility to pay a doctor a total of Dh84,542 in unpaid wages. In addition, the court directed the facility to provide the doctor with a return ticket worth up to Dh1,500 and to issue an official experience certificate.
The decision came after the court reviewed the case and found that the healthcare facility had failed to provide any legal evidence that the doctor’s salary had been paid. The facility also could not present proof to justify the deductions it claimed to have made for lateness or absences.
The doctor had been working at the facility for less than six months under a two-year employment contract. Because of the short duration of employment, the court ruled that the doctor was not entitled to any compensation for unused leave, and that part of the claim was dismissed.
The court also ordered the healthcare facility to cover the legal costs of the case, which will be included within the awarded amount. This ruling reinforces the importance of employers maintaining clear payment records and following proper legal procedures when dealing with salary disputes.
