Abu Dhabi has introduced updated human resources policies that strengthen family leave benefits for government employees, including paternity leave provisions for new fathers.
Under the revised framework, eligible male employees in Abu Dhabi government entities are generally entitled to a few days of paternity leave (commonly around 3–5 days depending on the authority) as part of broader leave reforms aimed at improving work-life balance and family support in the public sector.
The changes are part of a wider update to government HR systems that organize multiple leave types, including maternity, sick, and family-related leave categories.
Officials say the reforms aim to modernize workplace policies and enhance employee wellbeing across government institutions.
