Abu Dhabi has announced a major expansion of the E20 highway, a key infrastructure project aimed at improving traffic flow and easing congestion in Khalifa City and the surrounding areas of Zayed International Airport.
The upgrade will widen the existing highway from three lanes to five, significantly increasing road capacity and reducing travel times for thousands of motorists who use the route each day.
As part of the project, authorities will construct four new bridges, add 10.5 kilometres of ramps and loops, build 1.5 kilometres of internal roads, and upgrade eight signalised intersections to improve connectivity, traffic efficiency, and road safety across the network.
The development also includes the installation of modern street lighting, enhancements to drainage and irrigation systems, and extensive landscaping to create a safer, greener, and more sustainable urban environment.
The initiative reflects Abu Dhabi’s continued investment in world-class infrastructure to support population growth, improve mobility, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents and visitors.
