Dubai Ruler Inaugurates World’s Tallest Net Positive Govt Building

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum officially inaugurated the new headquarters of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, named “Al Sheraa,” in the Al Jaddaf area of Dubai. The landmark project has been described as the world’s tallest, largest, and smartest net positive government building, highlighting Dubai’s growing leadership in innovation, sustainability, and advanced urban development.

The state-of-the-art headquarters represents a major step in the emirate’s vision to create environmentally responsible infrastructure powered by clean energy and intelligent technology. Officials said the project reflects Dubai’s long-term commitment to achieving sustainability goals while developing world-class public facilities that combine efficiency, technology, and modern design.

The futuristic 15-floor complex has been equipped with more than 110,000 smart sensors and advanced artificial intelligence systems designed to monitor and optimize building performance in real time. The headquarters also incorporates cutting-edge renewable energy solutions, including solar power technology capable of generating up to 5 megawatts of electricity, allowing the building to produce more energy than it consumes.

In addition to its sustainability features, Al Sheraa has been designed to provide a modern and highly efficient working environment for approximately 5,000 employees and visitors. The facility includes advanced training and conference halls, interactive exhibition spaces, collaborative work areas, wellness and fitness facilities, and smart service centers aimed at improving productivity and user experience.

Officials stated that the headquarters establishes a new international benchmark for sustainable government infrastructure and smart city innovation. The project is also expected to strengthen Dubai’s reputation as a global leader in green development, digital transformation, and future-focused urban planning.

The inauguration of Al Sheraa further reflects the UAE’s broader ambitions to integrate clean energy, artificial intelligence, and sustainability into major national projects while promoting a more environmentally conscious and technologically advanced future.
