    UAE Accelerates Oil Pipeline Plan to Reduce Dependence On Hormuz Route

    The United Arab Emirates is set to accelerate the development of a major oil pipeline project designed to significantly increase the country’s crude export capacity through Fujairah by 2027, according to the Abu Dhabi Media Office. The move reflects the UAE’s continued focus on strengthening its energy infrastructure and reinforcing its position as a leading global energy supplier.

    The directive was issued by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who instructed Abu Dhabi National Oil Company to fast-track work on the strategic West–East Pipeline project. The initiative is expected to play a key role in expanding the country’s long-term export capabilities and improving the flexibility of oil transportation routes.

    Once completed, the pipeline will help the UAE substantially increase the volume of crude oil exports routed through Fujairah, located on the Gulf of Oman. This will further strengthen the country’s ability to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important and sensitive maritime oil transit corridors. The development is seen as an important step toward enhancing energy security and ensuring uninterrupted exports during periods of regional or global uncertainty.

    The UAE already operates the Habshan–Fujairah pipeline, which has served as a crucial alternative export route for crude oil shipments. The planned expansion and modernization under the new project are expected to improve operational efficiency, increase export resilience, and support growing international energy demand in the coming years.

    Officials believe the accelerated timeline will not only reinforce the UAE’s strategic role in global energy markets but also contribute to the country’s broader economic and industrial development goals. The project highlights the leadership’s continued investment in advanced infrastructure, sustainable growth, and long-term energy stability.
