Dubai’s Aviation Sector Set to Boost GDP by $53 Billion by 2030

Dubai’s aviation industry is expected to make a significant contribution to the economy, projected to reach AED 196 billion ($53 billion) by 2030. This would account for about 32% of the city’s GDP, an increase from AED 137 billion in 2023.

The direct economic impact of aviation is anticipated to be AED 132 billion, which is around 22% of GDP. This growth will support around 386,000 jobs in the sector. Additionally, tourism related to aviation is expected to add another AED 63 billion, contributing 10% to the GDP and raising the total number of jobs in the aviation sector to approximately 816,000.

Despite this positive outlook, Emirates airline is facing challenges due to ongoing strikes at Boeing, which have led to delays in aircraft deliveries. As a result, the airline is preparing to expand its fleet to meet increasing demand. To ensure they can keep up with this demand, Emirates is also enhancing its retrofit program, which involves updating and upgrading existing aircraft.

These developments reflect the overall growth and importance of the aviation sector in Dubai’s economy. As the city continues to position itself as a global hub for travel and tourism, the success of airlines like Emirates will play a crucial role in achieving these ambitious economic goals. Overall, the aviation industry in Dubai is poised for substantial growth in the coming years, benefiting both the economy and job market.
