Ras Al Khaimah Launches First Electric Bus, ExpandsPurple Route

Ras Al Khaimah has taken a significant step toward sustainable and modern public transportation with the introduction of its first electric bus, reflecting the emirate’s commitment to environmentally friendly mobility solutions. The launch forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance public transport services, reduce carbon emissions, and provide residents and visitors with more efficient travel options.

As part of the initiative, the Purple Route has undergone a major upgrade and expansion, improving connectivity across several key areas of the emirate. The enhanced route now covers an additional 14 kilometers and includes a number of newly added bus stops, making public transportation more accessible to a wider population. The route also links important destinations such as educational institutions, healthcare facilities, government offices, and other essential service centers, helping passengers travel more conveniently throughout the emirate.

Transport authorities have also introduced revised schedules aimed at increasing service reliability, improving operational efficiency, and reducing waiting times for commuters. These improvements are expected to encourage greater use of public transportation while providing a smoother and more comfortable travel experience.

To promote the upgraded service and encourage residents to explore the new route, passengers will be able to travel free of charge on the Purple Route during its first month of operation. The initiative is part of Ras Al Khaimah’s broader vision to expand green transportation networks, enhance urban mobility, and increase public transport coverage as the emirate continues to invest in sustainable infrastructure and future-ready transit solutions.
