Saudi Arabia has inaugurated the 46th King Abdulaziz International Qur’an Competition in Makkah, welcoming a record 334 contestants from 133 countries.
The prestigious event is being held from August 6 to 19, bringing together participants from across the world to compete in Qur’an memorization and interpretation.
For the first time, the women’s division is being conducted as a separate competition with its own closing ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the event’s development and reflecting its growing international participation.
Contestants are competing across five categories focused on Qur’an memorization and interpretation. The total prize money has reached SR10.26 million ($2.74 million), making it the largest prize pool in the competition’s history.
