Dubai has taken a major step toward expanding its global energy influence with the launch of DEWA International, a new subsidiary of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority), aimed at exporting the emirate’s proven power and water infrastructure model to international markets.
The initiative was announced by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum (Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum) at DEWA’s headquarters, marking a strategic move to position Dubai as a global provider of both conventional and clean energy solutions. The launch event was attended by DEWA’s Managing Director and CEO Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer (Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer).
DEWA International will focus on developing power and water projects worldwide, leveraging Dubai’s expertise in utility operations, renewable energy, and large-scale infrastructure delivery. The subsidiary is expected to work with governments and investors to structure projects that support energy security and clean transition goals across emerging and developed markets.
Officials said the expansion reflects Dubai’s ambition to transform its successful utility model—built on efficiency, innovation, and renewable integration—into a globally scalable framework. With flagship projects like the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park already serving as benchmarks, DEWA aims to extend its influence far beyond the UAE.
The move comes at a time when global demand for sustainable energy infrastructure is rising sharply, positioning Dubai as an emerging exporter of clean energy expertise rather than just a regional utility hub.
