Toyota Recalls 1 Million Vehicles Due to Airbag Defect

Toyota is recalling 1 million U.S. cars due to an Airbag issue, posing a risk of injury to passengers. The problem lies in the Occupant Classification System (OCS) sensors, potentially causing a short circuit and affecting proper airbag deployment.

Affected models, spanning 2020-2022, include Toyota and Lexus vehicles. Dealers will conduct free inspections and replace OCS sensors as needed. Owners will receive notifications by February 2024.

To check if your vehicle is part of the recall, visit Toyota.com/recall or nhtsa.gov/recalls and enter your VIN. For more information, reach out to Toyota at (800) 331-4331 or Lexus at (800) 255-3987.

This recall follows Toyota’s recent series, including 1.9 million RAV4s in November and 751,000 Highlanders in October. In August, 168,000 Tundras were recalled due to a potential fuel leak.
